We have a selection of animals that all pay their way. The hens and ducks lay their eggs, the goats produce raw milk and kids who then grow up and are sold as meat, the sheep produce lambs who then grow up to be sold as meat and rugs and the pigs are sold as weaners at 8 weeks old or kept and sold as rare breed, free range pork. Our boar occasionally goes away for a holiday to service other sows when he is not working here with our 4 girls.

Our pigs are Oxford Sandy & Black Pigs which are rare breed and are ‘At Risk’ on the RBST Watchlist. They have been around for 400 years which makes them very special animals – if we don’t eat them the breed might die out.

We regularly attend local fetes and Markets, such as the Dores Community Market, along with Christmas markets and fetes throughout the year in our area.

As we are a working Croft there is usually something happening here all the time from lambing, farrowing and kidding to wee chicks and ducklings hatching all around the Croft land.
